I am really just your run-of-the mill girl-next-door. A number of years back one of my friends said, "hey, we should join this running club - it starts and ends at a bar," and the rest is history!
Since then I have tried many different distances, have run with very specific goals in mind and with no goals whatsoever, have run alone and with groups, and, through it all, have learned that running should always be FUN! To avoid injury I added CrossFit into my crazy workout routine and found that, though small and wimpy-looking, it was something I could really embrace and that I found it had many similarities to running.
You probably wonder how running and CrossFit could possibly have anything in common, right? Well, that answer gets right to the heart of why I do what I do and embraces some of the things I find most important in life!
Community - both running and CrossFit draw in AMAZING individuals who want to surround themselves with like-minded people! Through my various running groups and my CrossFit family I have made some of the very closest bonds and built a strong family of friends (both near home and across the globe)! This community includes people from all walks of life, and often invites into it friends of the fuzzy variety (I love running with my dog, Maggie...and many of my friends have come to love her too).
Personal Growth - even though both running and CrossFit are done in a communal setting and encourage competition, I feel the TRUE competition is with oneself - setting goals and challenging myself to become better each day!
So, that gives you the "heart and soul" of me...but in case you were actually looking for "the basics..."
I'm a 30-something who lives in the Denver area, loves running and lifting, and can often be found on a trail/playing in the snow with my loving furball. Wanna know more? Read some blog posts!
